Solbiate Olona, Italy - November 30, 2023. The Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Italy, H.E. Anna Maria Anders, visited the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Italy (NRDC-ITA) Headquarters in Solbiate Olona (VA) today.
Upon being welcomed by the Commander, Lieutenant General Lorenzo D'Addario, and after meeting with representatives from nations contributing to the NATO Command, the Ambassador attended a briefing where the tasks, structure, and capabilities of NRDC-ITA were presented. The focus was on NRDC-ITA's role as the Allied Reaction Force (ARF) Headquarters in support of the Alliance's three main tasks: "deterrence and defense, crisis prevention and management, and cooperative security".
In particular, NRDC-ITA, in line with the new strategic concept of NATO, will continue planning and conducting a series of activities in the coming months. These activities include military exercises, academic studies, staff training, and will culminate in the Steadfast Deterrence 24 exercise in May 2024. During this exercise, NRDC-ITA is expected to receive validation as the ARF Command before assuming its role in July 2024.
In her speech, the Ambassador has provided an interesting insight on the polish approach about some topics like the international security in Europe, the impact of the current situation on the indo-pacific area, the European Union presidency in 2025 and the modernisation efforts of the armed forces. The visit continued with her participation in the national days of Albania and Romania. This represented a significant moment to highlight the joint efforts in support of the Alliance within an organization of 31 member states sharing the same values.
