NRDC-ITA and KFOR Strengthen Cooperation to Enhance Regional Stability

Solbiate Olona 7th November 2025, the Commander of the NATO-led KFOR mission, Major General Özkan Ulutaş, welcomed the Chief of Staff of the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Italy (NRDC-ITA), Major General Giuseppe Bertoncello, at KFOR Headquarters in Camp Film City, Pristina.

During the meeting, the two Commanders discussed key security issues related to the situation in Kosovo, emphasizing the Alliance’s ongoing commitment to maintaining regional stability.

Major General Ulutaş reiterated KFOR’s steadfast determination to support lasting peace and ensure a safe and secure environment for all communities in Kosovo, while also commending Italy’s longstanding contribution to the mission and the professionalism of Italian soldiers serving with dedication in support of KFOR’s operations.

The visit further confirmed the close cooperation between KFOR, JFC Naples, and NRDC-ITA, the latter being constantly engaged in operational planning activities for potential deployment in crisis areas, in line with SHAPE directives. Since 1st July 2024, NRDC-ITA has been operating as the Allied Reaction Force (ARF), with the capability to provide a rapid and integrated response to the Alliance’s needs in emergency situations.

Beyond its operational role, NRDC-ITA also stands out as a true hub for training and technological innovation, dedicated to the development and enhancement of the operational tools available to the Alliance, continuously promoting advanced and interoperable solutions for future security challenges.
