OLRT in Germany: Enhanced Multidomain Coordination with JFC-BS

Solbiate Olona 24 November 2025- The ARF Operational Liaison and Reconnaissance Team (OLRT) performed, last week in Germany, a valuable activity in preparation for upcoming multi-domain deployment operations.

The main core was to refine the coordination with Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFC-BS). The initiative involved the land and maritime components of the Allied Reaction Force (ARF), with the aim of improving joint cooperation and ensuring a high level of readiness for future combined operations.

The ARF, a high-readiness multinational force under the command of SACEUR, is designed to provide deterrence, rapid response capability, crisis prevention, and crisis management. It currently includes land, maritime, air, special forces, cyber, and space components, following a rotational model that enables the participation of various Allied nations and strengthens interoperability. The evolution of the ARF, framed within the broader New NATO Force Model, represents one of the main drivers of the Alliance’s modernization thanks to a continuous cycle of innovation, experimentation, and the integration of new capabilities.

The OLRT activity confirmed a high level of operational cohesion among the components involved and made it possible to finalize procedures and coordination methods in line with the most recent directives issued during the Component Commanders’ Conference held at NRDC-ITA. During the conference, the commanders of the various ARF components examined the state of readiness, the Force’s training outlook, the development of the multi-domain concept, and the operational challenges the ARF model will face in the coming months.

Thanks to the reconnaissance activity just completed in Germany, it was possible to translate the guidance that emerged during the conference into concrete actions, consolidating an integrated and proactive approach that strengthens the Alliance’s deterrence posture and prepares the ARF to provide a rapid, credible, multi-domain response to future operational requirements.
