SOLBIATE OLONA, Italy – From 23 to 25 June 2026, within the Allied Reaction Force (ARF) framework, NRDC-ITA hosted the first Table Top Exercise (TTX) of the year, focused on deployment, RSOM-I, sustainment of the force and Host Nation Support.
The Eagle Enablement (EAEN) 26 provided a valuable opportunity to verify ARF readiness and rapid deployment by refining planning assumptions and integration procedures, improving logistic coordination and strengthening the Alliance’s ability to respond rapidly and effectively to potential crises.
Conducted through the syndicate method, EAEN26 promoted collaboration between operational and logistics experts from across NATO, including specialists from SHAPE, JFCBS and Joint Support and Enabling Command (JSEC) and selected Host Nations (SWE and NOR). Following a structured approach, participants tackled aspects that are often taken for granted or even overlooked.
Resuming the context of the Steadfast Deterrence (STDC) 2026 (4-12 May 26), the EAEN26 contributed to examine in details several aspects related to logistics planning and deploying of the ARF HQ and its Multi-Domain components across Europe.
In this context, the activity offered a great opportunity to explore different solutions, like military and/or civilian multi-nodal transport systems as well dedicated strategic lift.
In particular, the two days of work allowed not only to share experiences and perspectives but also to identify best practices to speed up deployment across Europe through congested mobility corridors, ensure the sustainment (even long-term) of forces, and reduce the logistical burden.
The activity also highlighted NRDC-ITA’s role as a NATO hub for training, experimentation and innovation, promoting Multi-Domain integration, interoperability and the use of modern C2 systems (i.e. SITAWARE) and advanced technologies, including AI-enabled decision-support tools (i.e.
MAVEN), to enable faster and more effective command and control processes.
Throughout the EAEN26, logistics was reaffirmed as a critical enabler of operational success and a fundamental component of NATO’s ability to deploy, sustain and support forces whenever and wherever required.
