As Allied Reaction Force (ARF) Headquarters, NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Italy (NRDC-ITA) organized and conducted a Staff Ride 2026 in Estonia, reinforcing its operational awareness of one of NATO’s most strategically significant regions and further strengthening cooperation with Allied and Host Nation.
The whole activity covered 2 weeks: the first (7-12 June) dedicated to Commanders and Senior Staff, while the second (12-19 June) oriented to planners and NCOs of ARF HQ, affiliated Components as well as some of key partners of NATO and National chain of command (including JFC-BS and 1 GNC).
The activity was designed to enhance the comprehensive appreciation of the operating environment through a combination of professional exchanges, institutional visits, and reconnaissance activities. During the two-week program, participants engaged with representatives from Estonian Defence Institutions, NATO organizations, and multinational military formations, gaining valuable insights into the security dynamics of the Baltic region.
Staff Ride 2026 represents an essential component of the Headquarters’ continuous preparation process. It supports the development of a shared understanding among all ARF Components ARF 2025 and 2026 improving the refinement of planning activity. Furthermore, it strengthens the network among the entire stakeholders community, promoting interoperability and mutual trust with Allied and National entities.
Through initiatives such as Staff Ride 2026, NRDC-ITA continues to improve its capability to operate as a highly responsive multinational headquarters, ready to support the NATO’s core tasks and in particular contributes to Deterrence and Defence of the Alliance.
The Allied Reaction Force, a multinational and multi-domain formation under the direct command of SACEUR, represents not only a key instrument of operational readiness but also a laboratory of innovation – a platform where next-generation command and control systems are integrated and advanced technological solutions for Collective Defence are tested.
