Solbiate Olona, Italy – On 8–9 April 2026, the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Italy (NRDC-ITA), acting in its role as Allied Reaction Force (ARF) Headquarters, hosted a Nordic Seminar at its Headquarters in Solbiate Olona, Italy. Under the coordination of NRDC-ITA/ARF HQ CSEL, the event brought together the JFC-NF CSEL, Senior Enlisted Advisors to the Chiefs or their representative of Defence of Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway, alongside multinational Senior Non-Commissioned Officers from NRDC-ITA.
The seminar aimed to improve and consolidate the common understanding of Allied Reaction Force commitments within the Nordic Area while providing an update on the ongoing development of Exercise Steadfast Deterrence 2026. Through a series of focused discussions and briefings, participants examined the challenges associated with force preparation, operational readiness and the integration of multinational capabilities in an increasingly complex security environment.
A central objective of the meeting was to provide a Senior Enlisted Advisor and Command Senior Enlisted Leader (SEAC/CSEL) perspective on the operational and organizational issues that may arise in Nordic Europe. By sharing professional experiences and lessons identified, the senior enlisted leaders were able to highlight key challenges faced by their units and identify practical solutions to strengthen interoperability across Allied forces.
The seminar also served as an important opportunity to reinforce professional relationships and to foster dialogue among senior enlisted leaders from different NATO nations. These interactions contribute directly to strengthening trust, cohesion and mutual understanding among Allied and National Defence forces.
Beyond the operational aspects, the event underscored the enduring values that bind NATO Allies together. The meeting symbolized the strong partnership between the countries of Northern Europe and those of Southern Europe, highlighting a shared commitment to solidarity, cooperation and collective defence. Hosting Nordic partners in Italy demonstrated how geographical distance within the Alliance is bridged by common values, mutual respect and a unified commitment to security.
Looking ahead to 1 July 2026, when additional Allied components will integrate into the ARF framework — including the French Joint Logistic Support Group (JLSG), the United Kingdom’s Strike Force, the United Kingdom Special Operations Command, and the 3rd French Division — the seminar represented a key step in strengthening coordination and readiness across the expanding multinational structure.
By bringing together senior enlisted leadership from across the Alliance, NRDC-ITA reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing interoperability, supporting operational readiness and promoting the spirit of cooperation that remains at the heart of NATO’s collective strength.
