The Commander of NRDC-ITA Meets Cadets of the Military School "Teulié"

Milan, 24 February – A direct, impactful, and forward-looking testimony was delivered by the Commander of NRDC-ITA to the cadets of the Military School “Teulié” during a meeting focused on choice, service, and responsibility in an international environment marked by instability and uncertainty.

In his address, the Commander highlighted the value of a demanding yet meaningful life choice, encouraging the cadets to embrace it with pride and awareness, preparing for future challenges with a spirit of service to the Nation. He strongly recalled the core values of the Italian Army-discipline, honour, and sense of belonging-together with the importance of teamwork, shared experience, friendship, and selflessness as essential elements for building cohesion and identity.

During the discussion with the young cadets, the Commander first addressed current operational challenges that will have future implications, including the spread of drone warfare, the missile threat, and violations of NATO airspace by drones and aerostatic balloons.

He then outlined the posture of the Alliance and the role of NRDC-ITA as an Allied Reaction Force Headquarters, emphasizing a structured approach to planning, preparation, and the conduct of mission rehearsal activities aimed at strengthening deterrence. In this context, he presented the outcomes of Exercise Steadfast Dart 2026, recently concluded in northern Germany, highlighting the importance of technological innovation in enhancing Command and Control capabilities and the combat power of military assets.

In closing, the Commander reiterated the importance of mental and physical preparedness, the ability to make rapid and accurate decisions, and the need to look to the future with realism. Not all cadets will pursue a military career, he noted, but each individual’s contribution will remain essential within a “total defence” framework-interministerial and multidisciplinary-with or without wearing the uniform.

Extending his sincere best wishes to the cadets, he left them with a clear and inspiring message:

You are not here to be like others, but to be the example others will follow,” encouraging them to turn challenges into opportunities for personal and professional growth.
